How do I redesign a laundry room for a huge washer dryer?
I don’t want a building project, but that big washer and dryer I bought sure has messed up my very efficient laundry room! I can barely reach my hanging bar above the units.
My shelf and hanging rod are on standard 12” closet brackets. I am very petite—in fact, I have to use kitechen tongs to reach the bottom of the washer (epic buyer’s remorse). Any ideas besides a stool?

Mary,. I almost the same mistake. I think the only answer is a stool or a a step stool.
How long have you had them? Can you return and buy something else? Did you see in person or measure before purchasing? One of my girlfriends is 4'11" and my mom was only 5'1". When it was time to purchase appliances, they choose so that they can find a style or model that best suits their stature. Both have or had a kitchen step stool to make their lives easier. No way around it.
Hi, Mary, can you exchange your machine for a front loader?
To Ebbjdl, Naomie, and Oliva: Nope, I cannot return them. That still wouldn't resolve the issue. It's the size of the new machines. If you get one that will hold big loads, they are huge! My washer and dryer are a full 8" more from front to back than my previous one. They also require more space between the wall and the back of the machine.
I am 5' tall, exactly. My stature is not in relationship to the size washer I need...LOL. I still have to launder comforters, big dog beds, etc. They didn't shrink (nor did the amount of laundry I do).
Step stools are everywhere, but at 71, I try to avoid those! Maybe someone will come up with an idea!

Hi, Mary,
Since it appears you'll be stuck utilizing a step stool, why not build a sturdy elevated platform with a slight ramp attached to more easily access the elevated section? If needed, you could have a waist high railing with uprights installed, so you wouldn't step backward and fall?
