I hang my copper. The box is Great! Good countertop storage. Maybe kitchen towels, napkins and flatware,spices......
Pauline...Use one as a fruit bowl and the other add small pots with flowers (live or silk) ... maybe about three. If live flowers you need something to catch water. Hope you get lots of other ideas too
Pauline,. Use the wooden item for tools, so your not looking all over the house for tools. Make it your tool box. Tape, tacks, stapler, pen pad, screwdriver, hammer, tape measure, etc. The copper pan put a plant in it, and leave it at your doors entrance. It you live where it's cold, then get a tri-pod for it and put it in your dining room. Aloha!
The copper container would look great next to a fireplace (if you don't have one then next to a table or chair). Fill it with real or silk leaves in the Fall, pots of flowers in the Spring, gingerbread people or cinnamon-scented pine cones for Winter and patriotic decor for Summer. The wooden box could be the centerpiece on your table. Fill it with season/holiday appropriate decor items. Put a runner under it and add a couple of things on either side, such as candles and/or vases for a full and interesting look.

Add Trendy Bathroom Shelving Using an Old Wooden Toolbox
This is what I did. If you don’t think you can do the flowers yourself, take it into a Michael’s or Hobby Lobby and pay to have it done.
As for the other piece...have you thought of adding a board across the center to make a shelf? Those seem to be popular too.
If you have traditional furniture, I would make the first one a magazine and newspaper holder. Sand it, stain it and add polyurethane to make it shine. The 2nd, I would make it a summer guest drink server for the backyard. Put ice in it and service beer or soft drinks from it.
