All depends on where your home is located, how the home was built, and current building code. Have a consult with a foundation specialist to determine what is best for your structure.

If you are re-leveling a house, hire a pro. If you are building a house there are many foundation options. I would use concrete posts to support centers of spans. However, I have had may houses that used wooden posts on top od a concrete pad. The builders always put an asphalt shingle between the concrete and the wood post to prevent moisture getting sucked out of concrete and rotting the post. Most wood I've seen has bee fir instead of cedar - stronger.
