How do I make my porcelain tub shine again?
Though it's only 17 years old the surface of my porcelain tub is dull. We've just retiled with beautiful marble and that's when I realized how dull the tub was. Any simple suggestions?

There are professionals that can paint your tub and make it look like new and their finish lasts a long time . My father in law has had his painted a couple of times blue lasted a very long time and he just recently had redone to white he got an old one piece tub and surround.
Debbie first decide if the finish is off. If it is not you just need a powdered cleanser and some elbow grease. If you test a spot with some powder cleanser make a paste out of it and scrub it and it comes clean then you know it’s just a buildup of shower soap scum. Recently read an article that said to use shower gel‘s because it does not leave the soap scum in the tub
Home improvement stores sell a paint on type of glaze for refinishing tubs and shower stalls. Be sure to read and follow the preparation instructions or you could end up making it look worse and the new finish could crack or peel.
There are kits to redo your tub. I actually used one of these on the sink at work and it wasn't too difficult and looks really good.

Lysol Power Bathroom cleaner in the blue trigger spray bottle is the best thing I've used to clean for marble. If the tub itself isn't marble, you can use wet & forget shower but be careful not to get it on the marble.
Chances are you have unknowingly scrubbed the factory finish off by incessant unnecessary scrubbing and the wrong cleaning products. All you can do now is have professionally reglazed (I have had this done with excellent results), or try a home kit from any hardware or home improvement center. Bleach just eats the factory finish off over the years. Vile stuff, why people use it is beyond me. There are many other sanitizing remedies that do not ruin the finish of surfaces.
