Scrape it up after loosened with hairdryer ilor heat gun. Can clean up thin layer with lacquer thinner.

Heat it up with a heat gun and remove the excess with a scraper. You will need a solvent from a hardware store to remove the sticky residue.
I had the same problem. I took small propane torch . Put a little heat on the glue and let soften the glue not to much it might set the glue on fire. Keep a pale of water and towel in the bucket , Now heat let it get soft and scrape the glue with a puddy knife. Just be real careful and good luck.
