i have a large galvanized tub I use for plants but I need to drill some drainage holes. Do I need a special drill bit for this? Thanks!

Veronda....You will need to put some holes in the bottoms for drainage but add some good potting soil and find the flowers you want to plant. Won't be long before you can find a lot of blooming flowers but check out your garden centers because you will find some even now. Good luck!
your buckets need drainage holes so excess water won't kill your plants. a nail and hammer to punch a few holes near the bottom of the planter does the trick. next is a potting mix for them to grow in. in my area potting mix is seasonal, you might try calling big box stores to see what they have.
You didn’t say wether you wanted them indoor or out. Indoor I would find a plastic pot to fit into your bucket. Put a little gravel in the bucket, then the plastic pot and plant using potting mix. Do not over water.
