How do I put mollies in wood?
I built a mudroom and I want to add hooks on the 1x3 but it is just nailed into drywall. How do I make it strong enough to hold coats and things. I’m afraid it will just pull the wood and everything right off the wall.

Use very long screws to screw the wood into the studs, if possible. If not use anchors in the wall and screw into the anchors for the most support. .
Connie: This is a lot of information --- but you can find your solution for your exact situation!

You need to find the studs in the wall and then screw the 1X3 board through the drywall into the studs to give it some strength. You will never have a problem after doing this.
Just to add to what Janice said...anchors are rated by weight. Make sure to use ones that will take the weight of coats.
