Why is my compost tumbler producing balls?

We alternate wet and dry and brown and green products. However, lately it is clumping.What am I doing wrongs/ I see lots of red wriggler worms.

I'm thinking the clumps are just not ready yet, because the worms are a good sign.
I agree. The worms break down the organics excreting humus. Just not decomposed enough.

Are you turning it enough? Should be turned at least 3 times a week. Also add water the goodies need some moisture in order to break down. Not enough water could lead to materials not decomposing completely. At least that is what I have noticed with our tumbler. Also seems to do a much better job of composting in warmer weather.
