This is new for us home, but built in 1959. Kitchen sink drains slow but have not heard burps.
Can't seal permanently but doing it right will last a long time. Use 100% silicone bathroom caulk. A small bead around the tub and wall. Use a wet finger to smooth it out.
I agree, caulk. I use painter's tape to get a smooth line.

You can use silicone caulking, it is very waterproof, make sure it's clean and dry before you start and if you are unsure of your skills mask off the area with masking tape and remove it BEFORE the silicone sets
Make sure the caulk is the kind that doesn't get moldy.
