It will depend on the type of back splash you want to install. The traditional formica is a glue up so it's very simple. Wallpaper is another simple installation. Luxury vinyl planks to look like wood and peel & stick tile look are two more simple installs. Tile is where you get into the most complex applications.

Our first time ever applying it, we used peel and stick glass tile from Aspect at Home Depot. No thinnest and no grout. Literally the hardest thing was cutting the tile. We've had it for almost two years now and it still looks amazing.
