How do I clear the ground in a wooded area?
I have a beautiful wooded area but as soon as it warms up here, the ground gets covered in growth - huge briers, all kinds of stuff! Can I do something now to keep it from becoming impassable under the trees?

Maybe start with laying down plastic where you want a clear area. Then I'd use stones or make a walk path. Sounds like a beautiful area. But your gonna have to kill some of it , to keep it usable or visually appealing. Takes time. I'm battling blackberrys. Smh worst than weeds.😀 good luck happy digging! Just in time for spring!
Are you trying to clear all the woods? or just paths? BRUSH HOG you can rent one but probably be good investment for you, because the woods/brush will always be growing, even if you spray it next year you'll have to do it again. look for used one online craigs list maybe. The big, bad brush mower
For clearing most large areas overgrown land, a brush mower is your best bet. Choose a walk-behind (also known as ‘self-propelled’) model for walkable areas, and a tow-behind model (often called a ‘brush hog’) for really large fields and meadows. These machines are real beasts in the field, chopping through saplings 3″ thick and not even pausing at tough weeds and grasses. Most people who use a brush mower for the first time are shocked at how powerful they are and how much fun they are to use. It’s a lot of power – all in your hands and ready to rock! here's just an example https://www.northerntool.com/shop/tools/product_200641918_200641918 Do you own an ATV? how bout one of thesehttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PyWUnC9DSu8 if you want to do just paths rent one for initial clearing then get supior sharp bank blade to keep it cleared https://www.tigersupplies.com/Products/Council-Tool-Double-Edge-Ditch-Bank-Blade-w-Hickory-Handle__COU1230-.aspx?invsrc=adwords_ts&gclid=EAIaIQobChMIw-ixppe34AIVAdtkCh2vFAsEEAQYByABEgJrSfD_BwE here's some additional info. https://www.motherearthnews.com/homesteading-and-livestock/tools-for-clearing-overgrown-land-zbcz1405
Take a machete and hack them out or you can also cut them out with clippers. Weed eater however is a much faster approach.
