How do I set up a garden hose?

I am trying to set up a garden hose to the power cleaner. It is a Meditool and the directs are so bad I cannot figure out if I set up the hose in the front or the back of the machine? Also, the inlet filter is missing from the box. Can I use the machine without that, or where can I purchase one?
