How do I make detergent and softener for laundry?

Hi Josephine. A tablespoon of white vinegar in the place you would normally pour in liquid fabric softener can replace your fabric softener entirely. It works great, I've been doing that for years and you don't smell the vinegar on your clothes.

As for the detergent, this is the recipe I use:

It works great even if you don't feel like melting it down and making it a liquid you can just use 1/4 cup of the powder form per load.

1. 1 bar of Fels Naptha, Grated (about 2 1/2 cups)
2. 2 1/2 cups Super Washing Soda.
3. 2 1/2 cups Baking Soda.
4. 1 cup Borax.
5. 2 cups Oxyclean.
6. 4-5 drops of essential oil of your choice (optional)
