Light paint and a mirror will make it look bigger.
You could do light and bright colored paint
Paint is often an easy solution! Depending on whats on the floor now you could also consider throwing down a big rug too!
Without seeing a picture of the space... Maybe paint the area, add a new light and a small bench to the area. A mirror in the entryway is always a good idea too.
