would work well either pieces of Bamboo(may need sealed) or actual Bamboo flooring it's very durable
DIY's use all kinds of things for backsplashes. Pennies, tin ceiing tiles, pallet wood, wood shims, vinyl floor planks. The sky's the limit. Why not bamboo. Very stable and strong material. Go for it.
