Pick up on one of the colours in the tile. Do the beadboard darker, and the wall lighter. Or do a brown on the beadboard and a lighter blue on the walls. Or beadboard white, and a light tan or light blue for the walls.
I like the light yellow in the first tile set only may be a lighter/paler yellow.
Which one of the colors in the tile is your favorite? I would go with that!
Thanks everyone! My kitchen isnt very big so I'm thinking a lighter color. Maybe a blue grey. I love the blue in the tile but I'm thinking it will be too dark.
I would definitely stick to a neutral lighter gray color. Let your tile do the talking and don't take away from it by incorporating one of the main colors.
If your kitchen is small - then I would look for a grey color with blue undertones - keep it light. Go to your local paint store and grab some swatches to bring home and see how they look with the tile and in the lighting.
I would go with a blue.
From what I can see, it looks like the tile will fill in the entire space between cabinets and countertops. I hope you will continue to tile around the sink area under the overhead cabinets to make it flow together. I agree with Jerri, pick a neutral light grey for the walls, so it doesn’t distract from the tile, which should be the main focus of your kitchen.
As far as the bead board goes... why? It’s too small an area and it looks chopped up. Your windows are beautiful and I would just paint the trim and woodwork white like the cabinets , assuming all of your walls will be a light grey. This will really bring your whole kitchen together.
I’m loving the green on the painters tape!😂maybe paint the top area that green. The tile is very fun ! Get large paper of some kind in the colors of the tile, and white. ( party store table cloths?) and cut out to fit areas next to the tiles you want paint. See which ones enhance the tile. Or even a color that is not in the tile but will enhance it. Walk into kitchen not looking at it, then look up, does it please you? Live with the colored paper there for a few hours glancing at it occasionally. Have family and friends help in this also. Paper is much easier to change out and larger than a chip. Take your time.
Looking back up at the photo, I really love the green with the white cupboards! Maybe paint it green up there and maybe free hand white and green skinny stripes (horizontally) maybe add a couple of the colors From the tile also? You could draw that on paper with markers to check that option. But completely free hand, no, absolutely straight lines.
With all the pretty colors, I would choose a neutral wall color. Grey is VERY in vogue right now, or a light gold, or even a light burnt orange, it depends on your taste and home decor. You might want to consider an accent wall too unless you consider these beautiful brick back splash accent enough. I like them. Have fun Lisa. You might want to get a board a foot or so bigger and put a sample paint on it to see what you like best before buying a whole gallon bucket. Just a thought.
Where did you get the back splash? I can see using this in my kitchen, which is white and light gray. This would really stand out.
Take the tiles to a paint store. Pick up paint chip strips in exact match colors to the colored tiles then go up or down the paint chip strips to choose a darker or paler shade of the colors in the tiles. (Personally, I would go with lighter versions of that lovely teal color). Keep the paint chips (of all the colors) and label them as kitchen so if you need additional paint in the future or want to be able to pick an accent color that will go well you can do so without having to figure it out all over again. (It would be a lot harder in the future to take the tiles to the paint store to get exact matches as they will be adhered to the wall.)
