Hi Cristina, Semi-Gloss. This is more of a standard. Many builders use semi-gloss paint on moldings and trim so that those elements stand out, but the slightly duller surface is a little more forgiving. Great for traditional interiors and easy to clean, this finish is quite popular.

I agree with semi gloss. A good enamel paint would be easier to clean.

interior latex, a "washable" version. paint colors come in style, go out of style. if the base boards have been stained, you will need a stain blocking primer. personally, its easier on my back if I remove the baseboards and put them on the sawhorses to paint. I do both sides, in the Midwest, humidity levels go thru the roof. the humidity can cause wood to warp. if you can't remove them, get a very wide painters knife, use it to protect the floor as you paint.

Sherwin Williams has a great enamel paint called emerald for trim and doors. I've heard amazing things about it for those who professionally refinish kitchen cabinets.

I've used Alkyd paint throughout my house to paint my oak trim white. It's a paint that levels well preventing brushstrokes and dries hard so it's nice and durable.

A semi-gloss enamel paint works great for trim and baseboards. The enamel makes it easy to clean over time.

  • A semi-gloss is a great pick as it's easy to clean. You can also get cans of paint that say on the label they're for trim specifically too.

That would be semi-gloss because it is very washable. As a second choice, it would be egg shell, which is not as durable as semi gloss.

Semi-gloss finish: This is the best finish for your trims such as baseboards, mouldings and even cabinets and doors. It's also a good choice for highly trafficked area that gets lots of wear and tear such as a mudroom.

Semi-gloss paint finishes have a higher sheen and stand out in a room. They are easy to clean and stand up to dirt, stains, mold, and mildew.

    Gloss paint over an undercoat!
