How do I camouflage a weedy fence line?
Two of my neighbors put up privacy fences and left me with their old chain link. Now it's a constant battle to keep the weeds from growing in between. Any ideas on how to camouflage the mess?

You don’t want to spray it with a weed killer? Then consider putting those plastic slats in the chain links, or buying and wiring in place a bamboo curtain.
Yes. Prefer not to spray. I like the idea of bamboo curtains. Would dress up the view and block the sunshine from the weeds. Thanks.
you could add some bamboo fencing over chain link & just attach it with baling wire that would be cheapest https://www.google.com/search?q=bamboo+fence&sa=X&rlz=1C1CHBF_enUS750US750&tbm=shop&tbs=vw:g&ved=0ahUKEwjewcWZrvngAhUJoZ4KHYCqDT4QvQ0ItwI&biw=1366&bih=657 you can use 1gallon lemon juice 1gallon vinegar 2 cups salt mixed well in 2 gallon sprayer and spray the stuff liberally between the fencing it's pet safe but it will kill vegetation spray it in hot sun for really quick kill
If your "neighbors" built new fencing inside the old fencing, there's a good chance the old fencing is on their property. Go to your town (village, city) hall and find out where to file a complaint. Old fences must be taken down when new fencing is put up. In effect, they left you to deal with their refuse. Some neighbors!
I turned 4x8 wooden trellis panels on their sides and attached to chain link with garden tie-ties.
I did originally spray the bottom of fence line to kill existing weeds, but then I laid down landscape timbers
at the base of fence to visually “tie” the two together. In some areas, I grow climbing roses, in others honeysuckle, moon flower... whatever strikes my fancy...some areas nothing. Either way it’s a very attractive idea.
Best of Luck 😎
Why not just take out the chain link?
We bought used plastic slats for our chain link fence and just weaved them in and out of the chain link. The business that put our fence up sold used slats (at a fraction of the cost for new ones). Now no weeds grow up the fence and we have a lot more privacy!
