How do I paint textured walls?
I hv textured walls and don’t want to hire a plasterer to smooth them out (in the middle of having a $$$ bedroom floor installed) so I’m looking for ideas on what kind of paint style/technique to use on the walls. The walls have 3 windows n 3 doors so broken up a bit. My kitchen is SMALL and I did put a faux (stick-on) backsplash in 3 shades of grey behind my sink and under my 2 cabinets. I hv red accessories using my grandmothers red step stool w/seat on top as my reason for the color. Thanks in advance!

You can try a faux style painting. Thete are hundreds to choose from. Look at old world Tuscan look, sponge painting, etc.. Look on you tube for tutorials on how to faux paint. They can add a lot of interest and distract from the texture or embrace it.
The rag rolled technique looks very nice on textured plaster walls, but should be completed by only one person, as few people rag roll in the same manner.
I think your best choice economically is to paint the walls with a thick textured roller. This is the easiest method for painting textured walls. Go slowly with a textured roller or it will splatter paint. Choose a mid-tone gray paint that works with your backsplash colors. Gray is beautiful with red. A pale color of paint will highlight the texture, which is not what you want, but a mid-range tone will calm down the texture. Sometimes we have to accept the limitations of the home we have. If you can't afford to retexture, then accept that the walls are textured. We all have things in our homes that we wish were different. By the time you decorate your countertops, Hang accessories and curtains, put down colorful rugs, etc. the walls will not be the focal point.
Sponge painting will "hide" the texture and gives a dramatic look.
