How to grow dill in my garden?

I live in Toronto, Canada and for many years I am trying to grow dill in my herb garden. I tried seeds and I tried a small plant, I tried in the sun, shade and semishade, I tried in a pot and I tried in my herb patch. I don't have any problems with other herbs in my garden.

Call or visit your local nursery to get more information for your area and project. There may be a trick to it that they can help you with.
Sow dill seeds about ¼-inch deep and 18 inches apart in rich soil, then gently rake the seeds into the soil. The soil should be between 60 and 70ºF for best results. Dill weed does not grow well when transplanted, so start the seeds fresh in the garden in early summer. Make sure to shelter the plants from strong winds.
Mine always grows like a weed as long as it has decent soil and drainage. Mine liked the sun and occasional fertilization. When they go to seed the seeds will land throughout the garden and sprout new plants next year if it is cool enough already that they don't sprout right away. I always left a bunch grow wherever, it didn't seem to bother other plants in the veggie garden, so that I knew I would have plenty for the year. Keep trying, give it a chance, it really is not hard to grow once you get a plant going. Plenty of sun, water and good draining soil and you should be good to go. I plant mine in a big pot just because I have so many critters that just love to eat it.
