Need to make sure your exhaust fan is doing its job to remove moisture. If don't have one, need to get one. To clean, I use Tilex and a scrub brush. Them spray with Lysol mildew killer.
Ventilation-leave door open when not using bathroom, window if you have one;use towel(s) to wipe excess moisture from walls, mirrors, showers doors etc.;sponge mop to dry ceiling after showers or hot bath;make sure towels/shower mats/tub mats/bath mats are spread out to dry better after using them;wipe everything with straight vinegar to kill mold/mildew spores
Damp rid will help to pull moisture out of the air. You might need a fan or ventilation as suggested above. Once you have remedied the moisture issue, you can clean with white vinegar which will kill mold spores. If there is any evidence left on painted surfaces, Kilz Original then paint with a mildew inhibiting paint.
Ventilation is the key thing, as was stated before, use the ceiling exhaust fan, leave the door open, and a window if it is warm enough. If your exhaust fan isn't enough, use a regular fan to get more circulation. Use vinegar to kill any mold/mildew spores on shower/bath walls, and anywhere else that you find you have a problem. If you keep the mold/mildew cleaned up and use the vinegar regularly after shower/baths, you should see that you won't get it as frequently. Vinegar will kill the mold spores, bleach won't, it is for cleaning and lessening the staining.
Hi Deb - This is the shower cleaner that we use to help keep grout and tiles clean and minimize the mildew - it works on kitchen grout too. Hope this helps! Hugs, Holly
