Hi Sue - These are two articles that show how we took our small and sad deck and turned it into a gorgeous entertainment space complete with a pergola. Hope they help with some inspiration! Hugs, Holly

Hi Sue. If the wood is in good condition, flip the boards. It's a pain in the butt, but you will save yourself a fortune. For the rest, a really good sanding should do. Since they used house paint, it should go quickly. Good luck!
Great idea thank u
Rent a power washer on a hot sunny day. It will strip pint off.
Hi Sue, You might sand it down and repaint it. To save time you can buy or even rent a sprayer to shorten the time if time is an issue. Sprayers are easy to use and you can buy a basic one for not too much at home improvement stores. It may come in handy when you have to paint it again later. OR you might want to stain it. That does seem to last longer and does not peel off.(after you sand it).
I redid our deck last year by stripping the paint. I wouldn’t recommend a power washer as you can damage the wood and shorten its life. You can see what I did here: https://www.flippingtheflip.com/2018/08/the-deck-redux-part-i.html?m=1
