How to stop curtains blowing?
I have hung curtains outside on my deck. They are for looks and shelter. They blow around a lot. What can I do to weigh them down?

Try putting weights in the bottom hems, Linda.
I would sew a hem and add a fishing sinker at the bottom back of the curtain. If you do it on both sides of the curtain it will stay put. It probably already has a nice hem in which case you could just seam rip part of the hem in the 2 corner bottoms...put the fishing sinkers in the hem pocket and sew it back up. You might have to sew the fishing sinker to the corner so it doesn't move around in the hem. Good luck!
use/place some canopy weights at the bottom corners of poles/beams you could attach them to curtains only when needed https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07J66XY7Q/ref=sspa_dk_detail_0?pd_rd_i=B07J55KVM2&pd_rd_w=Nziyp&pf_rd_p=80559f3c-f83b-49c1-8a72-40f936e9df7a&pd_rd_wg=kXX6N&pf_rd_r=3JC9PAFWAZWXBKNGZY0D&pd_rd_r=c4f77508-57a6-11e9-96c4-2d30919d7fd2&th=1 attach a wire, cable or rope thru the bottom of curtains to hold it in place across areas; add drapery weights-however if wind is really strong they will be heavier when flying/flopping around and could really damage stuff;sew a metal chain onto/across/inside hem of the bottom of the curtains(heaviness would depend how much you do not want them to move, also additional weight for rod to hold)could be same problem as drapery weights flopping around. if the winds are very strong never leave them attached it will create a "sail" effect and rip entire curtain and rod down/off or you could place small slits in curtains to lessen the wind pulling on them
Open the hem up in a few places and insert fishing weights and restitch.
MAGNET DOTS ~ Hot glue a magnet to the post. Hot glue (or sew in) a magnet in the curtain itself at the bottom corner. Stick the magnets together & they will stay. The bigger the magnet, the stronger the hold. They should hold your curtains in place really well.
Fishing sinkers sewn to bottom or open up hem at bottom and add some.
I used panty hose legs filled with sand. The thing to remember is if is windy and the curtain can't hold the wind because of the weights on the bottom, it will pull the top of the curtains off. Usually spring is the windy time so you should be ok after another month .
I have a small curtain in my window that I usually open to catch the early morning breeze. I have a fish tank in front of the window so it is important that the curtain not billow and blow. I took several pennies and sewed them into the hem of the curtain. It hangs nice and straight and when the breeze catches it, it hardly moves in the breeze. You could probably do something similar in your curtain and if you needed heavier weights use fishing weights.
Run a chain thru hem, works for me.
Hardware store will cut to length, you can secure at each end of curtain panel. I used log safety pins.
Saw in fishing weights at the bottom.
Sew pebbles into the hem.
Get a "Shower Linerizer". They are made by the Environique co. and work great!
