Yesterday ants started invading my microwave. I need a safe method for cleaning the microwave and getting rid of the ants before they invade the kitchen.
Pour boiling water on the ant hills....after a while they should move somewhere else.

Diatomaceous earth is all natural, pet safe, and gets rid of ants near instantly. Just shake some around and ants are gone.
Hi Lulu,
The method that has worked well for us is the Jiffy Cornmeal mix, sprinkle it on the ground around your plants right out of the box, no baking it. The worker ants will take it back to the colony and it destroys them there, but, it will not kill the queen ant, who is responsible for reproduction. It will take poison to kill her, it's called AMDRO. If you choose to do that mix it with borax and something sweet-like sugar-to draw them.
It may be just enough to use the Jiffy to decrease the number of workers to leave your garden alone.
Others have used boiling water on the actual colony if you can find it. I am too clumsy to tote boiling water to the site.
1/4 cup of Borax, 1/4 cup of sugar, 1/4 cup of water mixed well. Then take small pieces of toilet paper or paper napkins, dip them into the liquid and place near any Ant trails on your property.
They will immediately begin sucking the juice out of the paper. Afterward they go home and die. Other ants at home eat them and die also, including the Queen.
You shouldn't see any trace of that colony after 3 days with no rain.
Washing detergent with phosophate sprinkled on the hill and around the area will get rid of them
