How to purchase right size wood for refacing kitchen cabinets?
I want to reface my kitchen cabinets and drawer fronts, is this easy to do for a first time DIYer? How do I purchase the right size wood? Will the place of purchase help cut the wood?

Perhaps hire this job out. I think a first time DIYer with lots of patience could do a great paint job however.
Defacing of cabinets is best left to the pros. Think paint
here are some videos to give you idea on what it takes to do this https://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=diy+refacing+cabinets+%26+drawers+fronts+with+wood yes any place you buy the wood should cut it for you;you can also buy new fronts or use reclaimed wood & you can buy a decent saw for not much $ and some other tools you'll need
I don't think this is a good first project for a diyer. But, you never know. Experiment on a small drawer front from a habitat for humanity type place. Have you thought about trying contact paper to give them a new look? It usually can be removed if you don't like it and it's easy to clean, too.
