How to improve the look of interior doors?
All the doors in my house are ugly, someone framed them and added what I thin is a textured wallpaper to the center of them, they have several coats of paint on them and they need help. What can I do for little or no money to improve the looks of the doors and the whole house? None of the doorknob match or work.

If it is wallpaper in the center of the doors, you can remove it and I am listing info below on how to do that. As far as door knobs, they can be replaced or repaired, again I am listing info for that project as well. If you paint over the doors it will still have that textured look and if it isn't wallpaper it could be a textured paint they used. So the second item is how to fix that problem. The only way to get the doorknobs to match is to replace them. If they are the same style just different colors you can spray paint them.

im gonna put a stripper on mine it was teak with a million coats of oil i bet that will take all the stuff off your dooors down to the original wood
Hello Debby! That doesn't look like wallpaper on the doors. It looks like someone textured the doors with the product that is used for popcorn ceilings. The paint layers look fairly thick. I would think you could use paint stripper on the doors but I don't think it would be worth the work it would take to get it all off and then expect that your doors would look nice when you got done. Your best bet would be to paint the doors and trim a different color for an inexpensive change. If you really hate the doors then you would have to replace them.
It looks like sand paint try sanding it off the door
Hi Debby, you can remove the doors and take them outside (weather permitting) sand them and paint them a nice neutral color, or a color you really like that will match your decor. You can change the hardware easily as well.
Remove the texture and molding. Replace with better looking molding. Repair, replace, or paint the door hardware.

I agree that this appears to be drywall texture. You can use a putty knife and scrape a lot of it off, then sand using sanding screen not sand paper. Another option is to overlay a very thin Luan, but I'd remove that trim and scrape as much texture as possible first.

Glazing of interior doors not only dramatically changes the appearance of the panels, but is also a decorative element in its own right. Transparent or translucent glass, for example, can visually enlarge the room without creating a feeling of isolation and enclosure. Initially, interior doors were only made using prefabricated glass with a typical, uncomplicated pattern. I chose these with glass; the doors are more beautiful to look at. More recently, however, there has been a move towards custom-designed glass. Let's take a look at the types of glass currently used in door construction.
There are a few things you can do to improve the look of your interior doors. First, you can sand them down and repaint them. This will give them a fresh, new look. You can also replace the hardware on your doors. This includes the doorknobs, hinges, and locks. Finally, you can add new trim or molding to your internal doors. This will give them a more finished look.
