You should be able to buy automotive tinting in an automotive store. You apply it by wetting the window with water mixed with a very small amount of dish soap, peel the backing off the window tint and apply it to the window sliding it into place. You follow with a squeegee to work out any air bubbles and a soft dry cloth to dry it and again working any wrinkles and air bubbles out. You trim with a very sharp razor blade/exacto knife and a straight edge. Another name for the window tint is "limo tint" and you can buy it in slightly different colors or degrees of privacy [darkness]. I've tinted windows on cars and a few years back when I got a new garage door I tinted the windows in the garage door. If you don't want to do it yourself there are window tinting companies that will come to your house and they do a very good job. Note do not wash the windows on the tinted side with Windex or anything other than very mild soapy water. Be careful not to scratch or etch the tint. Good luck.

You can purchase see thru window film from a local hardware store like Menards or Lowes or online. The application process for applying the film is similar to the same process as applying wallpaper on walls. It allows you to see out, but blocks out sun. We used this on a huge east window. It lasted about 10 years...we have since sold the home so not sure if film is still there. Easy to clean with water and soft cloth. Not sure if I would use it on door windows where kids, pets and significant others could scratch it. Comes in a variety of designs or plain. Can be removed easily, but not reused. Hope this helps.

Hello, we have the same problem, and are now seeing fading on our hw floors were the area carpet edges end. Lately with the longer bright daylight days we are keeping our shades closed.

There are a few window films on Amazon that are much less expensive than the ones you might find at y our local home improvement store. I ordered a roll called Lemon Cloud and it was less than 15.00. Great quality, easy to apply. Some of the films come in different widths to fit what you need.

2 inch wood window blinds or shutters would do the trick.
