Anyone how how to patch a hairline crack in the tub?

3po3 on Jul 01, 2012There are patch kits, but I think you are better off hiring a pro for this, particularly, as you note, because it could leak and cause serious problems. There are contractors who specialize in this work.Helpful Reply

Woodbridge Environmental Tiptophouse.com on Jul 01, 2012Plastic or acrylic tubs often begin to develop spider cracks in the finish coat as time goes on. There are many products that can be used to refinish the tub but I would suggest you contact someone such as Bath Fitters. These people make a mold of your tub and install a new liner that fits over and around the tub making it look brand new in just one day. If the crack is bad enough to be leaking, there is not other option other then tearing it all out and installing another tub in its place.Helpful Reply

Carol Fredette on Aug 14, 2015If your tub is plastic or acrylic and is over 5 years old then you should replace the tub. If it is a ceramic tub call a professional. If a coated steel there is a kit made to repair holes and cracks. Most big box stores carry them or you can get one on line. search google for tub repair kitsHelpful Reply
