https://ask.extension.org/questions/210799 only effective NON-TOXIC method is to dig and/or prevent them from reseeding. Labor intensive method would be to dig enough to expose the roots ... then using an electric drill, drill MANY MANY holes in the roots, and fill with salt. Won't be 'quick kill' but will aid in making them decompose.

Did you know it was burdock that inspired the creation of Velcro? Doesn't help with the problem but it is interesting. Good luck. Maybe hire someone to do this?
