How do I do away with family pictures?
I have boxes and boxes of pictures that I no longer want or need. I thought about scanning them and putting them on a disc but there are so many of them.

Scan the ones that mean something to you that you would like to look at on occasion. Reach out to family members and tell them you are doing a photo purge and offer them. I did this for my nieces (I had a lot of pictures of their parents' wedding) and they were so thrilled because their father had passed away a few years ago.
There is a scanner for photos that you can just feed one after another and they load to your computer. Load that to a flash drive and they are all on a tiny device you can fit in the palm of your hand. Give to a photography club, library, family members, crafters use them to make projects as do schools.
You could scan them in groups of pictures and then put them on a disc rather than one picture at a time.
I have scanned all of my pictures from before 1975 to when we started using digital cameras. It was worth it, because there have been times when I wanted or needed one of them. Set up folders and do one year at a time. You'll be glad you did.
Cloud storage also helps after scanning them. Some companies offer scanning services similar to when people had family movies transferred from VHS to digital.
