Hi everyone, I have a frosted glass door that I battle to get clean. Does anyone have any tips, tricks, or hacks for cleaning frosted glass?
I use SuperCloth microfiber and water for a streak free cleaner. It's well worth the investment, I paid a little under $40 for 4 about 5 years ago. They also work on screens & appliances.
Bucket of hot tap water, 1/4 cup of ammonia to cut through grease and dirt, few drops of Dawn or similar as surfactant, Use a clean cloth, let partly air dry then finish drying with newspapers. Remember that you can't clean glass with the sun shining on it.
For the outside, my husband uses the windex window cleaner that hooks to the hose. He's been using it for years on both two story houses and now on our rancher. You just follow the instructions and you can leave the screens in and they'll get cleaned as well.
The Glass ?-----Straight Rubbing/Isopropyl alcohol and clean white wash cloth no fabric softener on it (leaves streaks smears) & no paper towels they are treated with chemicals to increase absorbtion leaves streaks & smears;pour alcohol on cloth & wipe glass. wipe inside one direction-vertically, the otherside -horizontally this way you can tell which side you have missed something. Paper towels are expensive and kill lots of trees to make. Rubbing alcohol evaporates asap and is basically what is in window cleaners minus chemicals and blueing agent & it is much cheaper.
Ammonia and water and newspaper or Windex and soft white cloths or paper towels. Windex includes ammonia and it cuts the dirt and grease. It rinses and dries easily. The reason you don’t want to clean while the sun shines on the windows is because the cleaner evaporates faster than you can dry the streaks away.
Thanks for all the suggestions!! I live on a very busy street so I’m always cleaning windows! I didn’t know about the sunshine part good to know! Thanks again, Jules
