Blair...Make sure your landlord is okay with anything that might be permanent first. You can add a garden bench with potted plants, birdhouses, birdbaths, solar lights, might even do some stepping stones to your new found sanctuary. Good luck!
Check with friends who have plants. Many times you can get cuttings or they will split them and you can have the "cast off". I got some very pretty pots at the Dollar Tree. Place potted plants around and add decor items that can be removed and taken with you. In my opinion, you can always use a bistro set.
Buy items that you can take with you, and use indoors, if next time you don’t have a yard. Check out Facebook marketplace for your area' , for furniture. World market for outdoor plastic rugs. I always have bird feeders. A couple of sunflower seed feeders, suet holders, and humming bird feeders. Just remember to keep them full. I'ts like having pets in a no pet rental. They are such a joy.
Cozy chairs and portable lighting can be very beneficial.
