White vinegar might work!
Provide a more dry environment, with more sun. There are products that will kill it, but it usually grows where grass won't. Besides, you don't have to mow it!
Preventing moss from continually re-occurring largely depends on the climate zone you live in, the amount of direct sun the area gets, and the drainage efficiency of your yard.
I gave up on fighting the moss in my deep shade yard. Adding garden lime was only a temporary fix. I decided to rethink my yard strategy and plotted out a meandering path which I covered with landscaping fabric lined with rocks and covered in bark. Then I planted shade loving plants! Many varieties of hostas, vinca, holly, ivy, bleeding heart, etc. Since my yard is shaded with 80’ hardwood trees, I can indulge in some early spring bulbs for color, and keep a thin border for summer impatiens.
