How is it damaged? Stain, buckling? What is It? Table, dresser? Do you have a picture.?
Timber means “very large structural wood framing members” in the USA.
It is not veneered, by definition.
So what is veneered? Is it a planted pot kind of damage or the whole room flooded kind of damage?
If it's on a piece of furniture, or a small area, you can either remove it with a scraper and some heat to melt any glue that is holding on the venner, then revenner it. Or you can cut it out with a utility knife and bondo that area. With bondo you'll have to paint it though.
