How can add to a privacy fence that is 4 foot high covered with ivy?
I am looking for an idea to vertically extend fence. I have a chain link fence with lattice over it and in summer is completely covered with ivy. The problem is neighbour's dog jumps up and therefore my dog jumps up and is killing ivy in areas.

Add a lower picket fence in front of it.
The problem is the dogs, yes? Extending the fence higher won’t stop the dog’s’ habits.
Most US neighborhoods allow 6’ maximum height fences.
This is an extremely good price for 6’x6’ vinyl fence panels if you’d like to make your patio more private or add a new fence inside the old one. If you don’t have a Menards where you are, try getting the other big box DIY stores to price match.
Try spraying along the fence line with an orange essential oil or peppermint, mixed with clove water ( a handful of cloves, mixed with a gallon of water and left to mature for a week, then diluted with another quart of water) , all of which dogs dislike. It might be enough to keep the neighbor's dog away from the fence.
First, have you spoken to the neighbor about the dogs and tried to come up with a solution that works for you both? Unless you guys can keep the dogs away from the fence physically (chain, runner, etc) I don't see how any addition will keep them away. Perhaps as mentioned above, adding a picket fence in front OR putting stones, short wall or something out in front of the ivy will help.
Hi Mary, you need to deter the dogs from jumping at the fence, soi adding something in front to keep the dog away would be your best bet,
