I adore online classes and Bluprint has a great tutorial on sock knitting. You can see it here: http://shrsl.com/1kkrn (affiliate link)
I have found that Lion Brand Yard site on the computor is a good place to start. They will give you free lessons and sell you the yarn and needles to do it. Actually most of the Yarn sites will do the same thing. Just pull up some and decide which you like the most.
Here is the main website for Lion Brand Yarn. http://www.lionbrand.com/learn
Some knitters find that it is easier to achieve 2 socks with the same tension and finished size if 2 are knitted at the same time, using a round needle. Your local library can be a good source for books on knitting.
You're very welcome.
The public library can also be a very good source of free resources on knitting. Ask any librarian to help you find books/videos specifically on knitting socks.
