You can have it professionally treated and cleaned, but I do not recommend steam cleaning as the carpet will need to be re-stretched. .
Nature’s Miracle, sold at pet stores really works. You’ll need to keep it covered so that the enzymes stay wet (alive) for 24 hours.
Then put lots of towels on it and blot out the excess by standing on them.
It may may require a second treatment. If the entire carpet and pad are urine soaked, you’re going to find it cheaper to buy three bottles at once, when they have a sale on 3.
John, different types of urine require different treatments. The enzymatic treatment should work on any type, but I've had minimal success with cat urine. For cat urine, peroxide and Dawn seems to work best.
Is it cat urine? Definitely get a cleaner form a pet store that is specifically for cat urine. It has something in it that helps break down the enzymes in their urine.
