How to use chalk paint?
When you paint something with chalk paint do you have to use the wax to finish it? I have an old child's rocker I want to do, it is the old original brown paint on it.

Can I just chalk paint over this furniture?
I have used chalk paint on several pieces and have never finished with the wax. I always used polycrilic instead and it looks great and doesn't have to be touched up (as opposed to wax which will). Just make sure you don't use polyurethane, which tends to yellow with age.

I did one project with wax and did not like it. I have done several more and did not put on any finish. You could use a spray coating in matte or shiny. Krylon and Rustoleum make them, Walmart sells them. If you want a thicker finish brush on clear polyurethane.
