I like the ease of a commercial ant trap— both indoors and outdoors. The Terro brand that I have used with great sucess with -is recommended quite highly. You can check out the reviews and Q&A here— to see if it would meet your needs. I recently set them up a few weeks ago and —problem is once again —solved.

Once you get these traps in place the ant problem is distant memory. They are very effortless, effective and cost-effective. They do not smell badly like an ant aerosol spray does.

I sometimes also use Terro outdoor versions— outside around the foundation perimeter as the ants can be seen under rocks and in my seasonal flowering planters, the do like shade and moisture.

    Hi Anna,

It's that time of year and here come the ants.

We have them too, mainly in the kitchen, so what we do is get a box or 2 of jiffy corn muffin mix and sprinkle it outdoors of the rooms they are in, do not bake it. The worker ants that are lookiing for food will take it back to the colony and it will kill them, but you will need actual poison to kill the queen, whose purpose is reproduction. To do this, like Vimarhonor contributed, use Terro, it is a great product.

We use it on the deck or any place you see a parade (stream) of them.

If you can locate the colony and can pour boiling water on it, that will do the trick too.

The worker ants leave a trail of pheromones in your house where ever they travel, you will need to destroy this trail by cleaning with a product like white vinegar or a cleaner that you can safely use on your countertops.

  • Hi Anna - Those little buggers are relentless, aren't they?!? This is the most effective method and all-natural spray DIY that we use with ants. It's best indoors, but will also work outside with more frequent applications. Hope this helps! Hugs, Holly
