Snails love moisture and shade. I cleaned up a lot of the old over grown plants and raked out the decaying stuff between the plants. I also thinned out some of the plants so that air, light and dryness could get in the garden. It didn't get rid of all of them but it did the majority so I'm happy.
Sprinkle table salt on them. It destroys their slime, and kills them.
