Ammonia removes wax
Wax buildup on resilient flooring causes it to yellow in time. Remove old wax layers and freshen up your floor by washing it with a mixture of 1 cup ammonia in 1/2 gallon (2 liters) water. Let the solution sit for three to five minutes, then scrub with a nylon or plastic scouring pad to remove the old wax
We have a natural dark gray/black slate kitchen floor and the previous owner used wax on it, it was a hard removal even with ammonia. A lot of scrubbing because I think some of the wax penetrated the porous parts of the slate.
If you use ammonia, but sure the area is well ventilated and you have gloves on.
Hi M, I agree with the use of ammonia.
Yup, ammonia would be the easiest option.
That is what I do once a month. One cup of lemon scented ammonia to one gallon hot water. I use a sponge mop.
