Hi Karen, check out this French drain pipe product link:
https://www.homedepot.com/p/4-in-x-10-ft-Corex-Drain-Pipe-Perforated-4040010/100211970?MERCH=REC-_-PIPHorizontal2_rr-_-100211705-_-100211970-_-N
The above link has some videos next to the product. Watch them if you can! They give a lot of great how to information. When we did this in our yard, we didn't have the machine to dig the trench, we just dug the trench with shovels. I am sure you could rent a trench digger at ABC rental or Home Depot. Good luck!
Karen....Lots of digging in the area you need the drain, using rocks and PVC.
View the project as FREE physical training.- Start at the lower end so water does not accumulate in the uncompleted ditch.
Rent a trench digger, if you have multiple locations or a long run, it can be back breaking work. Or hop onto Nextdoor.com and see if you can find some high school or college kids that you can pay a nominal sum and feed them lunch. I have 3 on my property and it was roughly 200 feet of trench to dig.
