Hi Rebecca, the sump pump should have a hose attached to it, so place the hose where you want the water to go.
Deal with this immediately as it is a PRIME cause of MOLD.
It should have been installed with a drain line to outside already. May need to call a plumber.
It sounds like the sump pump was installed, just pumping the water under the house. If that is the case, you need to extend that drain out from under the house to a "dry well" or well away from the foundation.
Our sump pump at a previous house collected water from French drains around the perimeter of the foundation. When the water level increased, a float switch would turn on the pump and pump the water away. Ensure all components are working.
