mix yeast with warm water, place in old saucers so they can get in and drink! They will die!!
Slugs love to feast on them! I've seen where some people put a ring of crushed eggshells around the base out a few inches to prevent slugs from crossing over... I'm not sure how effective it is?

Slugs do not like to cross a line made from broken up egg shells. Also old cheap beer in a shallow container. They will drink and drown to their death.
