The sturdiness of your shed will depend on how well the ground below the shed is levelled, and how well you establish a solid, waterproof base.
Gary,
How big of a shed do you want to build? In most places over 120 sq. ft. requires a permit. And, you should call 811 to determine if there are any buried utility lines near where you want to build. Base preparation is key. What you need to do to prepare your base depends on where you live and takes into account soil types and weather. Are you going to pour a slab or build a wood floor? More than the tools involved, shed building will test your woodworking skills, but it is a fun project because you get to customize it exactly how you want it. Plans that call for a wood floor shed to rest on framing that sits on the ground or gravel will encourage animals to burrow underneath and cause siding to rot faster. Raise your shed a foot off the ground, cover the area underneath entirely with gravel, and nothing will want to live there. You also get some bonus storage underneath.
