White walls/floor and bright lights definitely help make it look bigger.

Light colors and lots of mirrors to bounce the light around. Good lighting also helps, especially at night or if you do not have windows for enough natural light.
LED lights at mid point on either side of large vanity mirror.
Chrome fixtures bounce more light than will brass, nickel, etc.
See through soap dispensers.
Bright white towels and bath mat.
Bright white fabric shower curtain with white fabric water repellent liner.
Light colored fixtures and larger wall tiles stacked vertically, for a more modern look.
Mirrored edge picture frame with colorful print of your choice.
Small potted plant for atop back of toilet tank, or a tall, narrow plant, set on floor beside tub.
Naomie is right, light colors, a mirror or two and good lighting really help. Keep your linens and accessories light in color. If you don't have a window a nice light colored outdoor picture could help, too.
