Diatomaceous earth, you can get a food grade so that if you have pets it won't harm them if ingested.

Ants: Safe and Effective Cure
Hi Michelle - Those little buggers are relentless, aren't they?!? This is the most effective method and all-natural spray DIY that we use with ants. It's best indoors, but will also work outside with more frequent applications. Hope this helps! Hugs, Holly

We get ants every spring and it drives me crazy. I have great success with Raid Ant Baits. The "max" version is the one I buy. (https://amzn.to/2wlXr20) The are inexpensive and effective. The trick is to let them do their job. The ants enter the trap and take the bait back to the colony. That means for a day or so you have to refrain from smashing every ant you see. This is particularly hard for me when I see them in the kitchen. Yuck! However, your tolerance will pay off and the ants will be gone in a couple of days. The baits are effective for 3 months, so I leave them in place until the end of summer - just in case.
