What's it made of? Wool or synthetic? How big is it?
Vinegar, hydrogen peroxide and lemon juice. 1 part lemon juice, 2 parts vinegar, 4 parts hp. Dab on and let sit or soak in washing machine depending on size and type of rug. If washable, add the usual amount of detergent as well.
