I converted my closet into a broom and pet closet. Here is a link https://www.simplenaturedecorblog.com/how-to-create-a-sweet-cedar-closet/
Kathleen: Maybe this will help
If there is wall space available, a small "closet" can be built between wall studs with a door on the front. It may stick out from the wall a bit (maybe 2-3" depending on the width of the studs) but it would be a great solution to broom and mop storage! The drywall would have to be removed where the closet will be, and a wood frame built (with a back attached to it) then secured between the studs. A door on the front and trim around the frame where it meets the rest of the drywall would complete it!
