What to do next, now that I put a layer or pea gravel in my yard?
I put down a thick layer of pea gravel in my yard. What happens
I have used blue stone slate to put in stair pathway in a yard. You have to level out the place you want to place the stone then make sure it is solidly placed as slate will break. I have also used flat rocks when I have found them. Same principal. My mother used railroad ties if you have a place that you can get them cheap or for free. (just have to pick them up). We dug a level spot for the first bottom step and laid in the railroad tie. then we dug the next level area at the top of the first one. We made sure the ties sloped towards the back and down slightly at the outside edge of the steps so that any water would flow back and down off the stairs. She had about 10 steps that we did this way. Note that we laid these in clay so it was good and solid, you might have to use something to keep them in place (rerods or spikes) if you ground doesn't settle hard. You might also be able to use old used cinder blocks if you have some of those lying around. It is really all in digging out the spot for the step and making sure it is level and solid.
